ABOUT ME
I am Maria Alamanioti, a contemporary Jewellery designer and maker born in Lamia, Greece. In 2019 I graduated from Silversmithing, Goldsmithing and jewellery at the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester. My work gets the main source of inspiration from nature and personal experiences that surround me, from an observation I will make on the street, to a feeling or an impulse I will have in the middle of the night and will force me to wake up and work on it. Always the environment gives me the inspiration to create unique contemporary jewellery like everything that is unique around me.
My aesthetic relates and adores greatly to minimalism and the juxtaposition of modern and contemporary design ideas and methods of creating jewellery. Most of my resources of the creation of each piece are from an organic thing I find in nature, like wood, unprocessed crystals, rocks and other precious metals like gold and silver. My immense passion for the craftsmanship of my pieces gives life every time to my imagination to experiment and see a thing beyond what they are giving them a more romantic artistic meaning. Adding to the mix of contemporary fresh material for my practice epoxy, concrete, enamels.
The work each time of course in every project differentiates in materials techniques and the ideology of each one making. As a new designer, this helps me to find myself, even more, each time I dive into a project and this is what I love the most to do. Each time I find a part of myself in each project that I could not even imagine it was there before, in this way adding to my personality and to my set of skills and understandings towards my practice and execution.
